Dr Htar Htar Aung
Dr Htar Htar Aung joined the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia on 19th February 2010 as a senior lecturer in Surgery. She finished her undergraduate studies in Institute of Medicine (2), Yangon, Myanmar in 1988 and obtained her Master degree in general surgery from the same institute in 1995. She worked as a registrar and part time lecturer in the surgery department at Yangon General Hospital and Institute of Medicine (1), Yangon, Myanmar till 1999. From 1999 to 2001, she studied in the United Kingdom and obtained FRCS (Edin) and FRCS (Glasg) in 2000. In 2001, she joined the plastic and reconstructive surgery department in Yangon General Hospital, Myanmar as a specialist registrar and part time lecturer. She had the training course for the plastic and reconstructive surgery in Sydney Children’ Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, St.Vincent’s Hospital and Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery in Melbourne, Australia from 2003 to 2004. Her special interests are in pediatric plastic surgery and microsurgery. She joined back the plastic surgery department in Yangon general Hospital, Myanmar and was later promoted to the post of a consultant and senior lecturer in 2004. Her previous appointment prior to joining Monash University was as an assistant professor in surgery in Melaka-Manipal Medical College, Melaka in Malaysia.
