Profile Summary

Dr. Yatinesh kumari joined Monash University Malaysia (MUM) in April 2013. She has obtained her Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees from Lucknow University, India. During her doctoral studies her work was focused on understanding the master clock in the brain that keeps time and regulates activities like sleep-wake cycles, hormone regulation and feeding behaviour and anticipates environmental changes and adapts many of the body’s physiological functions. She has studied the underlying neural mechanisms such as the up and down regulation of peptides and neuronal recruitment in relation to the circadian rhythm.

Presently, her research is emphasizing on the importance of fundamental understanding of the cellular and molecular pathways modulation by bioactive compounds, as it is essential for the development of new therapeutic approaches for neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, epilepsy and sleep disorders.
