Associate Professor Khoo Joon Joon
Dr Khoo Joon Joon joined Monash University in 2006 as an Associate Professor of Pathology. After graduated with MBBS from University Malaya in 1985, she obtained her Masters in Pathology and was awarded the Dr.R.Baghwan Singh Gold Medal in 1993. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and member of the International Academy of Cytology. She also holds a Doctor in Medicine degree in Anatomical Pathology for her research thesis and work on colorectal carcinomas.
Dr Khoo is an established researcher with numerous scientific publications in international and peer-reviewed journals. Her current research areas are in colorectal carcinomas, dermatopathology and cytopathology. Several of her works have been cited in international publications and she is also a reviewer of various local and international journals. As recognition of her contributions and works, she was conferred the Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia in 2008.
Presently, Dr Khoo teaches undergraduate medical students in Monash University Malaysia as well as postgraduate trainees specializing in Pathology. Her strong interest and enthusiasm in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching has propelled her to initiate innovative teaching methods and earned her the Monash University Pro Vice-Chancellor Award of Excellence for teaching in 2009.
With more than two decades of experience as a specialist in anatomical pathology, Dr Khoo has previously worked in both the government and private sectors in Malaysia, as well as in Singapore Changi Hospital. Currently, she continues to render her service to the Ministry of Health Malaysia and serves as a Senior Consultant Pathologist at Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru.
