Associate Professor Tan Siong Lui
Dr. Tan Siong Lui became a Consultant Paediatrician in 1970 and served as Head and State Paediatrician of the Malaysian General Hospitals of the states of Kedah, Kelantan and Johor from 1970 to 1979. He had his earlier training in Paediatrics in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Edinburgh and London. In Kedah, between 1970-1972, he had served as Vice-Chairman of the Kedah Child Welfare Council under the Chairmanship of Dr Mahathir Mohamed (our present Tun Dr Mahathir) whilst he was the State Paediatrician. All along beside being involved in each States children's social and public health services, he was also actively involved in the post-graduate training for the DCH, MRCP (UK) and MRACP overseas exams as well as the Master of Medicine (Paed) of the National University of Singapore. As Chairman of the Post-Graduate Medical Centre (PGMC) of GHJB from 1976-1979, he was involved in the weekly clinical presentations, journal readings and combined ward rounds. He left for Private Practice in 1979 but continued to be active in both clinical and academic activities. He joined the MUSC in Johor Bahru as sessional staff in 2010 and as fractional staff in 2011.
