Associate Professor Sharifah Syed Hassan
Dr. Sharifah Syed Hassan joined Monash University Malaysia in Mac 2008 as an Assoc Prof in Microbiology. She was the Director of the Veterinary Research Institute, Ipoh from 2004-2007. She had extensive exposure and research experiences in areas of animal viral vaccine production, avian and mammalian virology diagnostics and research. Her main interests of research are in the production of recombinant proteins, viral and gene discovery for the development of novel diagnostic reagents/systems and antiviral therapy. Her current research works and interests are in areas of cellular gene expressions of virus infected cells esp. that of Nipah and Avian Influenza viruses; shRNAs, miRNA, siRNA and gene silencing in studying specific functions of viral and cellular host genes.
