Dr Lau Wee Ming
Dr Lau graduated with a MD from UKM followed by a Masters Degree in Internal Medicine from University Malaya in 1998, and obtained further training in both Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and the Respiratory Sleep Disorders Clinic (currently West Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute), Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre respectively in Western Australia. She worked as an advanced trainee, and thereafter as a senior registrar at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. She has also done research in Sleep Medicine and won the Western Australia Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand Respiratory Trainee Award in 2000. She continues to see patients with both respiratory and sleep related problems after her return to Malaysia. She obtained further post graduate qualifications in both Dermatology and Occupational Health. She is currently registered with the local National Specialist Register in both Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine. She is a keen teacher/facilitator and has taught medical students, junior doctors, paramedical staff throughout her career. She was also previously involved with the teaching of Basic Cardiac Life Support courses to both medical and paramedical staff. While in Australia, she has participated in the in-hospital teaching training workshop. She was awarded both the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (Monash) and Essential Skills in Medical Education (AMEE) in 2011.
